Our legislators and governor have done an excellent job of balancing the budget ahead of schedule for the last 3 years. We need to continue this practice because it provides certainty and stability to Michigan families and local governments. I recognize that just because the budget is balanced, does not mean all the waste and inefficiency has been eliminated. Eliminating waste and inefficiency from a balanced budget will allow us to reduce the amount of taxes Michiganders pay without reducing funding for essential services such as roads, bridges, schools, and public safety.
